Our Health Guarantee
Commitment to Healthy, Happy Maine Coon Kittens
Health is Our Priority
We take the health of our kittens seriously. All breeding cats in our program are screened for common Maine Coon genetic conditions through UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory.
When you bring home a kitten from Premium Maine Coon Kittens, you're not just getting a beautiful companion—you're getting a kitten from health-tested parents with a comprehensive guarantee. We believe in transparency and want you to feel confident in your new family member.
Genetic Health Testing
We test for the three most common genetic conditions affecting Maine Coons
HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy)
HCM is the most common heart disease in cats, causing thickening of the heart muscle. It's particularly prevalent in Maine Coons. Through DNA testing, we ensure our breeding cats are HCM-negative, eliminating this concern from our lines.
What this means for you:
- Your kitten has no genetic predisposition to HCM
- Both parents tested negative
- Risk reduced by 95% compared to untested lines
UC Davis Certified
SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy)
SMA is a genetic disorder affecting the spinal cord and muscles, causing weakness and tremors. It's inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. Our breeding program is 100% SMA-free.
What this means for you:
- Your kitten cannot develop SMA
- No carriers in our breeding program
- Guaranteed healthy muscle development
UC Davis Certified
PKDef (Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency)
PKDef is a metabolic disorder affecting red blood cells, causing anemia. It's found in several cat breeds including Maine Coons. Our lines are PKDef-free through rigorous testing.
What this means for you:
- Your kitten has normal red blood cell function
- No risk of hereditary anemia
- Both parents confirmed negative
UC Davis Certified
